Carrie Moyer’s acrylic paintings combine overlapping biomorphic forms, Matisse-like cut-outs and facetious color pourings that feel like the hypnotic seduction of sheets of rain pouring down a window. In dual gallery exhibition, at DC Moore and Mary Boone galleries, color is the main actor. Bold lemony yellows vie attention with dynamic greens, reds and luscious purples; occasionally sprinkled with a mischievous dusting of glitter. Assured and accomplished, Moyer unites color and line into dazzling compositions that exude a self-assured joie de vivre. They heighten our sense of beauty in art without any reservation or justification. At DC Moore through March 22 and at Mary Boone through April 21.
